16/04/2011  We had the same problem on a new Murray riding lawnmower (BS engine) and we replaced just about everything we could think of i.e. fuel filter, etc. It turned out to be the carburetor fuel solenoid valve was sticking, so we replaced it. We believe the plunger was sticking causing it to malfunction, therefore the engine would cut out when the blades were engaged for a few minutes.

23/04/2012  When you engage the pto the mower revs up to prevent stalling, you don't usually notice it with the noise of the blades. However on my mower the cable which connected to the engine had came out of its housing. I would recommend for you to turn the mower on and engage the pto to see if the mechanism that revs the engine up is working correctly.
